Over a month after a 39-year-old bank employee was allegedly shot dead by her estranged husband in Bengaluru, the police have made the fourth arrest in the case. The Bengaluru Police arrested the man who had helped the accused procure guns.
The woman, Bhuvaneshwari was posted as an Assistant Manager at a branch of the Union Bank of India, and was gunned down on December 23 when she was on her way home. Her husband, Balamurugan, who allegedly fired four rounds at her from close range, later surrendered before the police.
The police had arrested Balamurugran and two other men, one of them identified as Moulesh, in connection with the crime. The fourth arrest was made on Sunday, February 8.
The accused has been identified as Abhimanyu Singh, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi, who worked at a jewellery shop. The police said Abhimanyu was monitoring the victim's movements for the main accused, Balamurugan. Abhimanyu accompanied Balamurugan to Bihar and assisted him in purchasing firearms as he was fluent in Hindi, police said.
The duo allegedly procured two guns and returned to Bengaluru. According to police, they later handed over one of the weapons to another accused, Moulesh, who is from Tamil Nadu.
Bhuvaneshwari was killed by her estranged husband Balamurugan in December. The couple had been married since 2011 and had been living separately for the 18 months that preceded the murder. Balamurugan was suspicious of his wife's character and their marriage was in trouble.

A week after the US-Israel strikes on Iran started the war in the Middle East, long queues for LPG cylinders began appearing across India. The Centre maintained that there was no shortage but an LPG crunch is evident. Why are petrol and diesel supplies not affected, given they also come from the same region?
