The latest deaths have taken the total toll of Indian nationals to five since the Iran war broke out nearly two weeks before. Earlier, three Indian sailors were killed in attacks on merchant ships.
Two Indians were killed, and 10 others were injured in an Iranian drone strike in Oman's Sohar city amid the ongoing West Asia conflict. This marked the first Indian fatalities on land since the war broke out nearly two weeks before. Earlier, three Indian sailors were killed in attacks on merchant vessels.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the Indian mission in Oman is in contact with the local authorities and the employer company, and is extending all possible help.
"We lost two Indian nationals today in an attack in Sohar, Oman in the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Several other Indian nationals were also injured. We express our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. Our Mission in Oman is in touch with the local authorities as well as the employer company and is extending all possible assistance," he tweeted.

A week after the US-Israel strikes on Iran started the war in the Middle East, long queues for LPG cylinders began appearing across India. The Centre maintained that there was no shortage but an LPG crunch is evident. Why are petrol and diesel supplies not affected, given they also come from the same region?
