Vedanta chairman Anil Agarwal said the death of his son Agnivesh has strengthened his resolve to continue working for India, urging opportunities for youth and calling for world-class education at home.
Vedanta Resources chairman Anil Agarwal has spoken candidly about the loss of his only son, saying the tragedy has strengthened his resolve to keep working for India and support the country’s future generations.
Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2026, Agarwal reflected on the grief he faced after the death of his eldest son Agnivesh Agarwal, who died at the age of 49 in New York after suffering a cardiac arrest while recovering from a skiing accident.
Despite the personal loss, Agarwal said he chose not to give in to despair.
“Either I collapse, or I get up and go. I choose to get up and go because India is in our hearts and there is still so much we can do for the country,” he said.
The mining billionaire said the experience has made him fearless and determined to continue his work.
“Now I am not scared. We will do what we have to do. We don’t do small things — we work with our heart,” he added.
