
Bengal post-poll violence: BJP welcomes HC verdict; transgression of state’s rights, says TMC

While the BJP has welcomed the order of Calcutta HC to hand over the post-poll violence case to CBI, TMC leader Saugata Roy said he was happy with the verdict. “The state government will judge the situation and take a decision to appeal to a higher court if necessary,” TMC’s Saugata Roy said.
In a setback to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government in West Bengal, the Calcutta High Court on Thursday ordered a CBI probe into murder and rape cases in alleged post-poll violence in the state. If in every law and order matter which is entirely within the state government’s jurisdiction, the CBI comes in... it is a transgression of the rights of the state.”
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
