Sushant Singh Rajput made his television debut with Ekta Kapoor's Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil in 2008. Ahead of his first death anniversary, we recall how the show helped him make a career in the showbiz.

On June 14, last year, the nation went into a shock when the news of Sushant Singh Rajput's death surfaced online. While many found it hard to believe, others flooded social media with throwback videos from his TV shows and movies. His career transition inspired many to dream big and achieve success in life. While many know him as Manav Deshmukh from Pavitra Rishta, the late actor had actually entered the showbiz with Ekta Kapoor's Kis Desh Mein Hain Meraa Dil in 2008. Although he played the second lead in the TV show, he was an equally loved character. His performance on the show even helped him bag the lead role in Pavitra Rishta. Sushant Singh Rajput worked in theatre for more than two years before he landed a commercial. While working in theatre, he was spotted by Balaji Telefilms that led to his first break in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil. The late actor played the role of Preet Singh Juneja, who was Harshad Chopda aka Prem's stepbrother on the show. The late actor had entered the show in the seventh episode in quite a filmy way. Preet's elder brother (Harshad Chopda) got injured on the football field during a match and everyone was relying on Preet to help them win. While everyone was looking for him, he lay on the bonnet of his luxury car. He made a star-like entry on the field and saved the day for the Juneja family and helped them win the trophy.
