As filmmaker Aanand L Rai awaits the release of his film, Atrangi Re, we tell you what made his Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Zero fail at the box office. The film was released on December 21, 2018.

Aanand L Rai is counted among the finest filmmakers of Hindi cinema. He has given us films like Tanu Weds Manu, Raanjhanaa and Tanu Weds Manu Returns. But, on the other hand, he has also made an unforgettable mess like Zero. During an interview, Aanand L Rai had said, "I know what went wrong with Zero, but I can’t describe it in words." Hence, in this week’s Wahiyat Wednesday, we are making an attempt to do it for him.

Zero marked the first collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Aanand L Rai. Along with the King of romance, Zero featured Anushka Sharma (Aafia Yusufzai Bhinder) and Katrina Kaif (Babita Kumari). In the film, SRK plays Bauua Singh, a vertically-challenged man from Meerut. Bauua, who proudly wears his heart on his sleeve, falls for a scientist, Aafia, who is affected by cerebral palsy. Their unconventional love story travels from India to the US and then leaves for outer space too.
