The Greater Chennai Police received multiple complaints that ATMs of State Bank of India were robbed at Velachery, Tharamani, Valasaravakkam and Ramapuram in Chennai. However, the ATMs showed no signs of tampering and no robbery alerts were raised, leaving bank officials and the police confused. The complaints were made when bank officials, during a routine tally, discovered that the cash deposited and cash withdrawn from the ATMs did not match up. The difference was in lakhs.
