Two men have been arrested by the Delhi Police in connection with the celebratory firing case in which a 54-year-old woman was injured at a wedding function in Delhi's Chhattarpur on Thursday.
Police have arrested two men in connection with celebratory firing case at a wedding function in Delhi's Chhattarpur on Thursday. The arrest also led to the recovery of a pistol which was used in the crime, along with two live cartridges and a double barrel gun from the accused's possession.
The accused have been identified as Ashwani Kumar and Piyush Gautam.
On April 28 at around 12.35 AM, a PCR call was received at Mehrauli police station from Fortis Hospital in Vasant Kunj informing them about the admission of a 54-year-old woman who had sustained a gunshot injury, following which police reached the spot.
A preliminary probe revealed that the woman who is a resident of Gurugram's Jalvayu Vihar had suffered a gunshot injury during a marriage function at Matangi Bhawan, Chattarpur Mandir.
Subsequently, CCTV footage of the function was analysed based on which police were able to zero in on the two accused who had been absconding since the incident.
It was found that Piyush had opened fire, which caused injury to his own mother, while the gun belonged to Ashwani aka Sonu. The pistol which was used in the crime along with a double barrel gun was later seized by the police.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
