Bachchhan Paandey box office collection Day 1: Akshay Kumar's film opens up with a bang on Holi, earns 13 crore

Akshay Kumar-starrer Bachchhan Paandey hit the theaters on Holi, March 18. The film opened up to a good response and earned Rs 13.25 crore on the first day.

Akshay Kumar's latest offering Bachchhan Paandey hit the screens on Holi, March 18, much to his fans' delight. People flocked to the theatres to watch their favourite star on screen as a deadly gangster. With plenty of action scenes and the right dose of humour, Bachchhan Paandey opened to positive reviews. The film made an impressive double-digit figure at the box office on its first day as it earned Rs 13.25 crore. Also starring Jacqueline Fernandez and Kriti Sanon, Bachchhan Paandey is an action comedy film directed by Farhad Samji. It is a remake of the Tamil film Jigarthanda that was released in 2014.

Bachchhan Paandey opened to a good response at the box office despite stiff competition from Vivek Agnihotri's The Kashmir Files. The day 1 net collection was Rs 13.25 crore. This will be 13th or 14th highest opening day in Akshay Kumar’s career. The film started on a decent note with the morning shows witnessing respectable occupancy. It witnessed impressive growth post 6 pm. According to a report in Box Office India, the film, which released across 2900-3000 screens across the country, had a good start in Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore with shows running almost housefull.

Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh revealed the figures on his Instagram account and wrote, "#BachchhanPaandey surprises, hits double digits on Day 1, despite [i] #TKF wave, [ii] limited showcasing and [iii] post-noon screenings due to #Holi festivities #Mumbai, #Gujarat, mass pockets lead Biz should grow on Day 2 and 3 Fri 13.25 cr. #India biz (sic)."

Bachchhan Paandey is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and written by Nischay Kuttanda and director Farhad Samji. Besides Akshay, Jacqueline Fernandez and Kriti Sanon, the film also features Arshad Warsi, Pankaj Tripathi, Prateik Babbar, Abhimanyu Singh, Snehal Daabbi and Saharsh Kumar Shukla. Bachchhan Paandey was earlier set to premiere on December 25, 2020. However, the release date was pushed and Farhad Samji’s directorial will now release theatrically on March 18, 2022. The story revolves around an aspiring director (Kriti) who wants to make a film on a deadly gangster (Akshay).
