A late-night auto ride turned emotional after an auto-driver shared why he kept working, leaving a passenger and the internet reflecting on loneliness and life.
A late-night auto ride turned into a quiet, unexpected life lesson for a passenger after he struck up a conversation with his driver, one that stayed with thousands online.
The video, shared by Instagram user Nikhil showed a simple view from the backseat of an auto-rickshaw, the city lights passing by as the driver continues his shift. But what unfolds in the caption adds a deeper, more emotional layer to the moment.
In the clip, the driver was seen navigating through traffic, focused and calm, as the road stretched ahead. Over this, a text overlay talked about the conversation the passenger had with him.
“Today my auto wale bhaiya taught me something unexpected,” it began, explaining how the driver looked to be in his late 50s or early 60s, yet was still working long hours.
When asked why he continued to drive all day at his age, the driver replied that work wasn’t about money any more, but it had become a way to pass time.
As the conversation continued, he shared more about his life. He had been married for over three decades and had three daughters who now lived in different cities. For years, his routine had been simple, return home late, where his wife would wait for him at the door, ask about his day, and serve him food.
