A pro-talk ULFA leader along with two others have been arrested by Guwahati city police for allegedly plotting to assassinate Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
A pro-talk ULFA leader along with two others have been arrested by Guwahati city police for allegedly plotting to assassinate Assam Finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Pro-talk ULFA (United Liberation Front of Asom) leader Pradip Gogoi was arrested by police from his residence at Hatigaon area in the city and produced him before a court in Guwahati on Tuesday. Police have also arrested two others from Karbi Anglong district in connection with the case. Guwahati city police Commissioner Munna Prasad Gupta told Aajtak/India Today TV over phone that police had arrested Gogoi based on some evidence.
As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
