Assam: NDRF team distributes relief material in flood affected areas of Dima Hasao

A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) distributed relief materials to the people stuck in the flood-affected areas of Assam's Dima Hasao district.
A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) distributed relief materials on Saturday to the people stuck in the flood-affected areas of Assam's Dima Hasao district. The team also rescued a few people stuck in the areas.
The Indian airforce airlifted the team in order to reach the remote areas of Dima Hasao as travelling by road or railway was not possible. HPS Kandari, an NDRF commandant, told India Today that rail and road connectivity to Dima Hasao has been badly affected and the team needed to reach the affected areas on an emergency basis.
The damage to road and rail connectivity has also put a halt to the supply of essential food and water to the area.
A few days back, 119 passengers were airlifted from New Halfong railway station.
The NDRF is also involved in conducting rescue and relief operations in Cachar, Nagaon and Hojai districts affected by the flood.
