Assam govt to organize Gaon Sabha on Jan 16, aims to procure 10 lakh MT paddy

The Assam government will organize a special Gaon Sabha (Gram Sabha) across the state on January 16 with the aim of procuring 10 lakh MT of paddy from the farmers this year.

In a bid to sensitize the farmers on the paddy procurement drive and to expedite the process, the Assam government will organize a special Gaon Sabha (Gram Sabha) across the state on January 16 and is aiming to procure 10 lakh MT of paddy from the farmers this year.

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday said that due to the dedicated efforts of the present state government, central and state agencies such as FCI, AFCSCL, NAFED, NACOF, NCCF and ASAMB have agreed to procure 10 lakh MT paddy from farmers at MSP of Rs 1,940 per quintal.
