In view of the worsening flood situation in Assam, the Cachar district administration has announced closure of all educational institutions and non-essential private establishments for 48 hours with effect from Thursday.
The Cachar district administration on Thursday announced that all educational institutions (government and private) and non-essential private establishments will remain shut for 48 hours with effect from 6 AM on Thursday.

Incessant rains, floods and landslides have wreaked havoc in various parts of Assam, affecting nearly 4 lakh people in 20 districts of the state. Meanwhile, NDRF teams have been pressed into action to carry out rescue and relief operations in the affected areas.
As the flood situation in Assam continues to remain grim, a portion of road connecting Kampur-Kathiatali in Nagaon district was washed away in the flood.

Water levels of Kopili, Borapani rivers also continued to rise, flowing above the danger level.
