
Ashok Gehlot links rape to unemployment, Rajasthan BJP up in arms

The chief minister of Rajasthan, a state grappling with rampant paper leaks ahead of crucial exams, linked the growing cases of rapes and paper leaks to the rise in unemployment across the country.
The BJP in Rajasthan has lashed out at Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over his statement linking unemployment to rape and incidents of paper leak.
“It is extremely shameful that the chief minister is giving such shameless statements on rape," Arun Singh, BJP’s national general secretary, said.
“Firstly, his minister says that this is a state for men because of which rape increases. And now Gehlot is giving such statements,” Singh said.
The chief minister of Rajasthan, a state grappling with rampant paper leaks ahead of crucial exams, has linked the growing cases of rapes and paper leaks to the rise in unemployment across the country. “When the common man is frustrated due to lack of jobs, he commits crimes and starts doing drugs,” he had said.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
