Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam & flautist Shashank Subramanyam were conferred French govt's Chevalier award in recognition of their contribution to music & Indo-France relations. Award honours personalities for creativity in cultural spheres & works that form cultural heritage. Award one of primary distinctions from among 4 ministerial orders of French Republic. Sairam & Subramanyam awarded for talent & dedication towards arts & culture. Sairam has received Padma Shri & Sangita Kalanidhi from Music Academy. Subramanyam awarded Kalaimamani for instrumental music prowess.
Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam and flautist Shashank Subramanyam were conferred with the prestigious Chevalier award by the French government at a ceremony in Chennai on Saturday evening. The award was given in recognition of their contribution to the music field and development of Indo-France relations.
According to a citation from the French Ministry of Culture, the award was intended to honour personalities for their creativity in cultural spheres and their works that formed the wealth of the cultural heritage. Ms. Sairam and Mr. Subramanyam were conferred the title of Chevalier De L’orde Des Arts Et Des Lettres.
The award is considered to be one of the primary distinctions from among the four ministerial orders of the French Republic. The government had recognised their talent and dedication towards arts and culture.
Ms. Sairam has received several honours, including the Padma Shri and Sangita Kalanidhi from The Music Academy. Mr. Subramanyam too has been awarded with several titles, including the Tamil Nadu government’s Kalaimamani for his prowess in instrumental music.

The commission has been set up to recommend the ways and means of implementing the internal reservation that would adhere to the Supreme Court guidelines, and based on empirical data. It has been asked to rely on the 2011 census data to make its recommendation. Till the report is discussed and implemented, fresh notification for recruitment, filling of backlog posts and promotions in government departments have been halted.

At present, two existing MSVs are deployed to cover areas around Outer Ring Road in Marathahalli and at Kempegowda Bus Stand. In addition, five MSVs have been procured in the first phase to cover Shivajinagar, Yeshwantpur, Jayanagar, Banashankari, Silk Board, Nayandahalli junction and other nearby areas.
