In yet another incident of the Apple Watch acting life-saver, a US man says he could have frozen to death in ten minutes after falling through ice, but he used the emergency call feature on Apple Watch to alert the authorities to rescue him in five minutes.
The Apple Watch has proven to be a lifesaver in yet another incident. This time, it was the emergency call feature that helped save a US man's llife who had fallen through ice on a frozen river, while nobody else was around. William Rogers, a teacher in New Hampshire, US fell through the ice while he was skating on the frozen surface of the Salmon Falls River in Somersworth. Rogers struggled to get out of the ice for a few minutes but the ice kept breaking and could not take his weight. He even tried to reach his phone but his hands could not get a grip on the device because of the cold. Rogers, in an interview with a local TV news channel, said that ten more minutes in the water would have caused hypothermia and that he would have frozen to death. It was when his breathing got laboured, he realised that he had his Apple Watch on. He long pressed the side button that sent an SOS signal that called 911 and tipped off the fire brigade which arrived in five minutes and saved his life.
