Anurag Kashyap reviews Natchathiram Nagargiradhu, calls it his favourite Pa Ranjith film

Anurag Kashyap watched the uncensored version of Pa Ranjith's Natchathiram Nagargiradhu. He called the film his favourite and added that this was Ranjith's most personal work.

Pa Ranjith's Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is just a day away from release. On August 29, the filmmaker organised a special screening for celebrities in Mumbai. Anurag Kashyap, who watched the uncensored version of Natchathiram Nagargiradhu was bowled over by the film and, performances. He took to Instagram to shower praise on Pa Ranjith, Dushara Vijayan and the entire crew.

Pa Ranjith screened Natchathiram Nagargiradhu for selected celebrities in Mumbai on August 29. Filmmaker Neeraj Ghaywan took to Twitter to give a shout-out to the film.

Anurag Kashyap, who watched the film in Mumbai, hugged Ranjith after the screening. He then took to Instagram to shower praise on Natchathiram Nagargiradhu. According to him, Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is Pa Ranjith's most personal work and his favourite film. Responding to the post, Ranjith wrote, "Love you (sic)."

He wrote, "Saw #natchathiramnagargiradhu last night. The uncensored version . This is a film playing inside Pa Ranjith’s head . There is an order in his chaotic mind . Where so many of his identities are having conversations and conflicting with each other . They just want to be and in order to be, they have to assert themselves and hold on to their grounds . It’s a film about love and how it needs to survive above all prejudice and hatred (sic)."

Anurag felt that the lead character Renee, played by Dushara Vijayan, imbibes Pa Ranjith's spirit. "Rene in the film imbibes the spirit of Pa Ranjith . This is His most personal work and my favourite Pa Ranjith film. He is his most vulnerable and naked in this film . Special mention for all the wonderful actors and the music and the cinematographer and the editor and the whole crew (sic)," he added.

Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is all set for a grand release on August 31 alongside Chiyaan Vikram's Cobra. The film features Dushara Vijayan, Kalaiyarasan and Kalidas Jayaram in lead roles. Composer Tenma, cinematographer Kishor Kumar and editor Selva RK form the technical crew. Natchathiram Nagargiradhu is produced by Yaazhi Films and Neelam Productions.
