The Kashmir Files actor Anupam Kher has now defended Kapil Sharma after director Vivek Agnihotri claimed that the comedian refused to promote his film. Kapil later thanked Anupam in his tweet.

Ever since filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri claimed that the makers of The Kapil Sharma Show refused to promote The Kashmir Files, the comedian is being criticised on social media. In fact, netizens started trending Boycott The Kapil Sharma Show on Twitter after Agnihotri alleged that the comedy show wasn't interested as his film did not have popular stars. While Kapil Sharma had earlier urged people not to believe one-sided stories, Anupam Kher has now broken his silence over the matter. He defended Kapil in a new interview.

Kapil Sharma faced backlash after Vivek Agnihotri tweeted that that comedian refused to invite The Kashmir Files cast on his show. Speaking to Times Now, Anupam Kher has now clarified that he was invited to The Kapil Sharma Show two months ago to promote the film. However, he was the one who turned it down since the nature of the film is quite serious. Anupam didn't want to be a part of the comedy show because of that. "Ye film bari serious hai, I do not want to be a part of the show. But I have to say, Kapil does not have any malice towards us or towards the film," Anupam said.

After Anupam Kher cleared the air, Kapil Sharma thanked him for debunking all the false allegations against him. The comedian tweeted, "Thank you paji @anupampkher for clarifying all the false allegations against me. Aur un dosto ka bhi shukriya jinhone bina sach jaane mujhe itni mohabbat di. Khush rahiye, muskurate rahiye. #thekapilsharmashow #Isupportmyself #kapilsharma (sic)."

Just before the release of The Kashmir Files, fans took to social media to request Vivek Agnihotri to come on The Kapil Sharma Show to promote it. However, the filmmaker claimed that the comedian and the TKSS team refused to get them on the show, as his film did not have popular stars. His tweet read, "I don’t get to decide who should be invited on @KapilSharmaK9 show. It’s his and his producer’s choice whom he wants to invite. As far as Bollywood is concerned, I’d say what once Mr. Bachchan was quoted saying about Gandhis: Vo raja hai hum rank (sic)."
