Another western disturbance may bring rainfall in Delhi on February 8 and 9 and also affect Northwest India, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
The minimum temperature across several parts of Northwest India is expected to witness a gradual rise owing to another western disturbance. Delhi could see another spell of rainfall on Wednesday as back-to-back western disturbances are likely to hit the northern plains, changing the weather system.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the second western disturbance is likely to bring rainfall and windy conditions in the national capital on February 8 and 9. The maximum temperature is expected to plunge below 19 degrees Celsius in Delhi tomorrow.
Many parts of Northwest India may witness a change in the weather system from the night of February 8. On Sunday, the national capital saw a warm, sunny day and the maximum temperature settled at 24.2 degrees Celsius. As per the IMD forecast, the maximum and minimum temperatures would hover around 25 degrees Celsius and 6 degrees Celsius today, a report published in PTI revealed.
An IMD update issued on Monday said that the maximum temperature is likely to hover between the range of 19 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius in northwest India, the Indian Express (IE) said in a report.
IMD senior scientist RK Jenamani told Hindustan Times (HT) that the first western disturbance is fairly feeble and there will be minimal impact in Delhi.
"The second western disturbance will influence Delhi from February 8 and lead to a rise in the minimum temperature, which could touch 8°C by Tuesday and 9°C by Wednesday. At the same time, Delhi will see a sharp drop in the maximum temperature on Wednesday, due to overcast skies and rain," he told HT. (sic)
Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality was recorded in the poor category on Monday and Tuesday. It could improve on Wednesday with the expected rainfall.
