
Another day of rain, waterlogged roads in Bengaluru

Bengaluru rain: The weatherman has forecast moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds for the next 48 hours in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru woke up to another day of waterlogged roads and heavy traffic jams on May 20 after pre-monsoon rains pounded the city in the early hours of the morning. Between 8.30 a.m. on May 19 and May 20, Bengaluru city station of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) received 37.2 mm rainfall while Bengaluru HAL airport station recorded 46.5 mm rainfall.

After severe water-logging, the stretch of Hosur Road between Silk Board and Rupena Agrahara was closed along with the Electronics City elevated flyover for almost two hours and the traffic was diverted to alternate roads causing inconvenience to office-goers. However, many IT companies declared work from home for their employees following the rainfall in the morning.
During the morning peak hours, there was slow moving traffic from Jayadeva hospital towards East End Circle, Varthur College towards Varthur Kodi junction, Cottonpet towards Sulthanpet Circle, Bilekahalli towards G. D. Mara, Sarakki junction towards Sindhur Junction, Ayyappa Underpass in Madiwala, Pothalappa Garden towards Anepalya, RV Dental College towards Lalabagh West Gate, Silk Board metro station towards HSR Layout and MPS junction towards Silk Board due to water-logging.
The under-construction Central Silk Board metro station was waterlogged. Even within the Central Business District, traffic movement was affected from Queen’s Road towards Anil Kumble junction due to rains.
