Anil Kapoor credits wife Sunita for inspiring Subedaar: I dug into my relationship

Anil Kapoor shared that he drew inspiration from his marriage with Sunita Kapoor to portray the emotional conflict in Subedaar.

Anil Kapoor has credited his wife Sunita Kapoor for helping him shape the emotional core of his upcoming film Subedaar, revealing that he drew from their marriage to portray a man torn between duty, love and nation. As he prepares for the film’s release, the actor opened up about how Sunita’s understanding of his passion for work inspired his performance.

During an interaction with Indian Express, Anil clarified that he did not draw from his relationship with his children, including daughters Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, to prepare for the part.

“In Subedaar, I think I dug into my relationship with my wife. Of course, I don't have this kind of relationship with my daughter. Rhea, Sonam and myself, we are like friends The love which I have for my wife, and the love for my work waha I am the love for the nation. I love my nation, I love my work also, but how do I get that in that? Then of course, I love my wife,” he said.

He further spoke about the constant conflict between professional duty and personal life, something he believes many people experience.

“Kabhi kabhi ye bhi hota he situation ki film mein scene ye hai ki he is there doing his duty he has to be with his wife also. But he is like let me finish my duty and then I will be with you. So that conflict, which is always there in your life also. Where you want to become a better father, better husband, better friend but sometimes you are a person who is so passionate about his work also. He is conflicted Sometimes why I say that my wife's contribution is tremendous, is because she could understand my madness and my love for my work. She sacrificed so much to understand and let me be. Let me work, let me be myself.”

Anil and Sunita got married on May 19, 1984, and have often spoken about their enduring partnership. Their son Harshvardhan Kapoor has also ventured into films, following in the footsteps of his sisters.
