As per the findings published on Jerry, a smartphone car insurance comparator, Android users are found to be better drivers than iPhone users.

iPhones are preferred by the majority of people, well as long as their budget permits. However, some users do not like iPhones as much as others do, they would most happily spend the same amount on a high-end Android phone and probably get more features. That said, which smartphone you use says a lot about you. A latest study has revealed a about the nature of people who use iPhones and the ones that use Android phones. While iPhone users may not like a lot of things the study reveals about them, the Android users have been rated better than iPhone users.

As per the findings published on Jerry, a smartphone car insurance comparator, Android users are found to be better drivers than the iPhone users. The report says that it had analysed driving behavior of 20,000 drivers collected during 13 million kilometers of driving. In all the tests conducted, the Android users one-upped their iPhone counterparts.

“Jerry analyzed data collected from 20,000 drivers during 13 million kilometres of driving over a 14-day period. The data generated an overall driving score as well as sub-scores for acceleration, speed, braking, turning, and distraction. Then we grouped the results by smartphone operating system and various demographic characteristics,” the report said. It was found that iPhone users are most likely to check their phones while driving than Android users.

The study conducted by Jerry also revealed that Android users are more open and honest than iPhone users. The report went on to add that Android users are not drawn toward luxury like iPhone users. Android users, as per the study, were more conscientious, exhibited higher levels of honesty and “feel little temptation to break the rules.” The iPhone users on the other hand, were less consistent and predictable in their behavior. They showed higher levels of emotionality.

The study found that most iPhone users were younger than Android users. And age plays a key role in safe driving. The older you get, the smaller your risk appetite becomes but the same cannot be said about young drivers, who are quite adventurous in nature and do not fear as much as the older ones do.
