Andhra CM Jagan Mohan Reddy's party reserves 2 Rajya Sabha seats for backward classes

CM Jagan Mohan Reddy announced that half of Rajya Sabha seats (2 out of 4) that are heading into polls, have been reserved for leaders from backward classes.
Reiterating the principle of social justice, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said the ruling party has allotted two out of four Rajya Sabha seats to leaders from backward classes.
Ryga Krishnaiah and Beeda Masthan Rao, both belonging to backward class category, were announced as the candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha polls. The other two seats were given to V Vijaysai Reddy and S Niranjana Reddy.
R Krishnaiah (68) is a senior backward class leader and two-time MLA. He is currently President of the National BC Association. Beeda Masthan Rao is a former Kavali MLA and champion of the Aqua industry in the state since 1991.

Vijaysai Reddy (64) was renominated by the party for the second time. Niranjan Reddy (50) is a senior advocate in the Supreme Court. He had appeared as special senior counsel for the state of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The Election Commission of India recently announced that polls for 57 Rajya Sabha seats spread across 15 states would take place on June 10. Considering the strength of the Party in the Legislative Assembly, it appears that all four seats are likely to go to Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party.
Earlier, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy gave 70 per cent of cabinet berths to BCs, SCs, STs and minorities, picking 17 from the backward sections in his new team of 25.
