Ameesha Patel reacts to fresh warrant in Moradabad event case: Old and settled

Ameesha Patel has reacted after a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in a 2017 wedding event dispute. The actor called the matter old and settled, alleging false claims and stating that her legal team will take action.

Bollywood actor Ameesha Patel has responded after a Moradabad court issued a non-bailable warrant against her in connection with a 2017 event-related dispute. Responding to the reports, the actor termed the matter an old and settled issue, stating that legal action would be taken against what she described as false allegations.

In a statement, Ameesha said, "Media reports suggest about certain proceedings at Moradabad by one Pawan Verma. I wish to inform one and all that this is a 15 year old matter in which the said Pawan Verma had signed a settlement deed and received the entire agreed amount. Despite this it seems he has lodged proceedings making false allegations. My lawyers are initiating appropriate criminal proceedings of cheating against this person to expose his lies and deceit while I prefer to focus on my work and ignore people who choose to make a public spectacle for gaining attention on false pretexts."

The development comes after the Moradabad ACJM-5 court issued a non-bailable warrant against the actor on Monday due to her absence from a scheduled hearing. She has now been directed to appear before the court on March 27.

The case dates back nearly a decade. In 2017, Moradabad-based event manager Pawan Verma filed a complaint alleging that Ameesha had charged Rs 11 lakh to attend a wedding event in the city but did not turn up despite receiving the payment. According to the complaint, the actor travelled from Mumbai to Delhi but allegedly demanded an additional Rs 2 lakh in cash upon arrival. When the event company refused to pay the extra amount, she reportedly returned to Mumbai and skipped the event.

Following the incident, Verma filed a case against Ameesha and her team in the Moradabad court. The matter is currently pending under sections 120-B, 406, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

Nearly two years ago, Ameesha had appeared before the Moradabad court and secured bail. However, it is alleged that she did not comply with the bail conditions thereafter, prompting the court to issue the non-bailable warrant again.
