When BJP leaders hailed the Centre's decision to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel, Congress seemed unimpressed and termed it a 'lollipop' amid soaring inflation.
Centre on Saturday, May 21 decided to slash excise duty on petrol and diesel offering some releif amid inflation. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman took to Twitter to annouce the rate cuts. The price of petrol will reduce by Rs 9.5 per litre and of diesel by Rs 7 per litre.
Reacting to the rate cuts, several BJP leaders tweeted in support of the move while Congress remained largely unimpressed.

Other Union ministers soon followed suit. Heartfelt gratitude to the Prime Minister for taking welfare decisions keeping in mind the problems of the people, tweeted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
