Allegations of snooping serious if reports true, says Supreme Court on Pegasus

As it heard a batch of petitions seeking a probe into the Pegasus row, the Supreme Court said allegations of snooping against the government are serious.

Allegations of snooping are serious if the reports regarding it are correct, the Supreme Court said on Thursday as it heard a batch of pleas seeking an independent probe into the Pegasus row. “Before going into all that, we have certain questions. No doubt, the allegations are serious, if the reports are true,” the CJI observed and raised the issue of delay, saying the matter had come to light way back in 2019.
