
Alert in Mathura ahead of Babri demolition anniversary, ‘jalabhishek’ plan at Krishna Janmabhoomi-Idgah

A senior police officer told India Today that the security of the disputed site and Mathura-Vrindavan would be in the hands of about 2,100 police and paramilitary personnel from December 3 to December 6.
The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested Mathura district president of the Hindu Mahasabha Chhaya Gautam and group’s city leader Rishi Bhardwaj ahead of the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition on December 6. The outfit has announced to mark the occasion by performing ‘jalabhishek’ (ritual bathing) of Lord Krishna in Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosque.
The group is leading a campaign to “liberate the Krishna Janmabhoomi” saying that the Shahi Idgah mosque was built at the birth place of Lord Krishna by demolishing a temple that existed there. To push its campaign, the Hindu Mahasabh has planned the jalabhishek of Laddu Gopal (Lord Krishna in his infant form) at the Shahi Idgah mosque.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
