Akshay Kumar's 'Bachchhan Paandey ki sawaari' lines crash due to overwhelming traffic

Akshay Kumar had flagged off a truck from Mumbai on March 11, which had an IVR number that give lucky callers a chance to speak to the superstar. The IVR number mentioned on Bachchhan Paandey Ki Saawari crashed when it reached Surat due to call overflow.

Just 5 more days to Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Jacqueline Fernandes and Arshad Warsi’s Bachchhan Paandey release and the promotions have been going on in full swing. Yesterday, the makers flagged off Bachchhan Paandey Ki Saawari, a promotional campaign where a truck travels to 6 prominent Indian cities. A number mentioned on the truck will give lucky callers a chance to speak with Akshay himself. However, due to an overwhelming reception, the IVR line crashed when it reached Surat.

On March 12, the team of Bachchhan Paandey flagged off a truck, Bachchhan Paandey Ki Saawari. This is a promotional campaign where a truck travels to 6 prominent cities in India, namely, Surat, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Jaipur, Udaipur and Ajmer. There will be different promotional activities centred around the film in each of the cities. The truck left Mumbai at around 11 am and was flagged off by Akshay Kumar himself. The truck carries a number where audiences can dial in and speak to Akshay, if they get lucky. However, due to an overwhelming number of calls, the IVR lines crashed after the truck reached Surat.

In lieu of the development, Bachchhan Paandey’s production house issued a statement, which can be read, “The server line has crashed due to unprecedented traffic on the line. We regret the inconvenience. The lines are now restored and we look forward to your continued love.”

Wondering why this unique form of promotion? Since Akshay Kumar’s character in Bachchhan Paandey is seen riding a truck most of the time, the makers planned a one-of-its-kind road trip in a truck that commenced its journey from Sun-N-Sand hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. Bachchhan Paandey’s sawaari will be spotted at various destinations from March 12 to March 15.

Speaking about the truck, Akshay said, "It is a ‘Bachchhan Paandey Ki Sawari’. This truck will go to Surat then Ahemdabad, then Udaipur, then Indore then Ajmer, and lastly Gurugram. By dialing, the number which is printed on this truck you will get a chance to connect with me, rest all the things you will get to see in the film".
