All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi again refused to accept Z category security offered by the Centre after a recent attack on his convoy.
"I want to appeal to the Union home minister that I don't want Z security. My life is not as precious as that of those 22 people who died during the CAA Protest in Uttar Pradesh," Owaisi said.
This came after Union home minister Amit Shah on Monday urged Asaduddin Owaisi to accept Z category security.
In his statement in Rajya Sabha, Amit Shah said a detailed investigation is underway and a report has been sought from the state government.
“Two persons have been arrested and police recovered a car and two pistols. The forensic team is probing the incident and the two men are being questioned by the Uttar Pradesh Police," he said.
Further, Shah said since Owaisi has refused to accept the security cover, he requests the AIMIM MP to accept the security given to him by the central government.
"He has been provided with Z category CRPF security cover on an all India basis along with a bulletproof car in Delhi," Shah said, adding, "But due to his unwillingness to avail security, Delhi and Telangana Police's efforts didn't succeed."
