Agra man was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend, whom police say he lured to his office on suspicion of an affair, killed and dismembered before dumping her body parts in a sack, with the victim's head still missing.
Uttar Pradesh police on Monday arrested a man in connection with the murder of a woman whose dismembered body was recovered from a sack in Agra’s Parvati Vihar area on January 24.
The woman had been reported missing by her family a day earlier, on January 23, after she failed to return home, prompting them to file a complaint at Agra’s Trans-Yamuna police station, which set in motion a city-wide search and investigation.
Following the complaint, police formed four teams and began checking CCTV footage from major roads, highways and nearby residential areas to trace the woman’s movement.
Around 1 am in Agra’s Parvati Vihar, police recovered a sack which, when opened, revealed the woman’s body, with her head still missing. This prompted investigators to review footage from over 100 CCTV cameras across the city in search of clues.
The footage showed a man transporting a sack on the victim’s scooter. Using the scooter’s registration, police identified the accused as Vinay, a colleague of the woman, and arrested him within 12 hours of the body being discovered.
During questioning, Vinay admitted that he and the woman were in a relationship and had been arguing due to his suspicion that she was meeting another man.

Two years ago, former Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina warned of an alleged plot by a 'white man' to establish a Christian state. In 2025, the Mizoram CM said Ukraine war veterans were using the state to enter Myanmar. The arrest of 7 foreign nationals by the NIA has prompted experts to suggest that the incidents might be connected.

Pradyut Bordoloi was a dyed-in-the-wool Congressi who vowed to never leave the party. The physical attack on him in 2025, and the Congress embracing "communal elements" pushed the Lok Sabha MP into joining the BJP. Bordoloi's exit from the Congress after three decades is significant for the party and Assam's politics.
