ACB arrests Gajwel tahsildar for disproportionate assets, uncovering properties and valuables worth ₹4 crore during ongoing investigation.
The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Kamatam Sravan Kumar, tahsildar of Gajwel mandal in Siddipet district, in a disproportionate assets case for acquiring assets beyond his known sources of income through unlawful practices during his service.
According to officials, searches were conducted at the residence of the accused officer and two other locations linked to him. During the raids, investigators unearthed documents relating to several movable and immovable properties.
The properties include two houses, an apartment comprising six flats and four open plots located in Karimnagar town. These properties alone are estimated to be worth ₹2.47 crore as per official valuation.
Apart from the real estate holdings, officials also seized two two-wheelers worth ₹1.6 lakh and a four-wheeler valued at ₹30 lakh. Gold ornaments worth ₹4.2 lakh and household articles valued at ₹15.66 lakh were also found during the searches. Investigators further recovered ₹11.9 lakh in cash.
Overall, assets worth around ₹4 crore were unearthed during the searches, the bureau said, adding that the actual market value of the properties is likely to be significantly higher than the official valuation.
The searches are still in progress and further details may emerge as the investigation continues.
