AAP MLAs protest inside Delhi Assembly, demand L-G VK Saxena's resignation

AAP MLAs are demanding a probe against LG VK Saxena for allegedly changing banned currency notes during his term as the KVIC chairman in 2016.

The tussle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena continued with the party MLAs protesting inside Delhi Legislative Assembly on Tuesday. The AAP MLAs demanded a probe against the LG for allegedly changing banned currency notes during his term as the KVIC chairman in 2016.

AAP MLAs continued their protest throughout the day today and stuck to their demand of LG's removal and arrest. The party MLAs waved placards in the assembly halls, and raised slogans against Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena. The AAP demanded the matter to be investigated by the CBI and ED, adding that VK Saxena should resign till the probe is completed.

AAP spokesperson and MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj questioned why the role of Vinai Kumar Saxena was not investigated in the 1,400 crore scam in Khadi Village Industries. He also asked why his name was not mentioned in the FIR.

As the AAP continued its protest in the Assembly for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, the proceedings had to be adjourned several times.

AAP alleged VK Saxena had pressured his employees to exchange demonetised notes worth Rs 1,400 crore in 2016, when he was the chairman of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).

The AAP alleged VK Saxena was named by two head cashiers of Khadi Village Industries in the scam, but no action has been taken against him. AAP has further termed this to be a direct case of money laundering. They demanded that in such a situation, the investigation of this case should be done through the CBI and ED.
