A shocking incident has come to light from Dombivli in Maharashtra, where a seven-year-old girl on her way to school was attacked by a pack of 10–15 stray dogs in a residential society.
The incident occurred on Monday morning in Orchid Society located in the Khoni Palava area. According to residents, the child had stepped out of her home as usual for school when a group of stray dogs sitting inside the society premises suddenly chased and attacked her from behind.
Panicked on seeing the dogs running towards her, the girl tried to escape and ran in different directions, which made the dogs more aggressive and they continued to chase her. She started screaming loudly in fear.
A security guard stationed in the society rushed to the spot after hearing her cries and drove the dogs away with a stick, preventing a major mishap and saving the child.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the society. The girl did not suffer serious physical injuries but is said to be deeply traumatised.
The episode has triggered fear among residents in the society and nearby areas, with many expressing anger over the rising number of stray dogs in the upscale Palava locality. Residents have demanded immediate and concrete action from the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation and local authorities to address the stray dog menace.
