About 7,200 bottles of Codeine based Cough Syrup (CBCS) were seized on Bhiwandi Highway on Wednesday night. Two men, including the carrier and receiver of the contraband, have been arrested in connection with the matter.
A team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai unit seized 7,200 bottles (720 kg) of Codeine based Cough Syrup (CBCS) at Bhiwandi Highway on Wednesday night. Two men, including the carrier and receiver of the contraband, have been arrested in connection with the matter.
As per the information, the seized contraband, which was valued at Rs 40 lakh, was to be delivered in Bhiwandi area for further delivering it to customers in retail in various areas of Mumbai and Thane.
The said contraband was being transported in a Mahendra Bolero pick-up which has also been seized by NCB..
Acting on a tip off, the NCB team chased the vehicle in a systematic manner to nab it.

Upon interrogation, it was found that the accused were important members of a syndicate dealing in illegal supply of Codeine based Cough Syrup (CBCS) in Mumbai and Thane.
