5 Kerala RSS leaders get high-level security after PFI threat input

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Saturday granted "Y" category security to five RSS leaders from Kerala after the central intelligence agencies warned of a possible threat from the now-banned radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI).
According to sources, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) informed the MHA over a possible threat to RSS leaders in Kerala after the Union government's decision to ban PFI.
The MHA, on the basis of the report from the NIA and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), then decided to accord "Y" category security to five RSS leaders in the southern state. Commandos of paramilitary forces will be deployed to ensure the security of the RSS leaders.
The NIA, during its raids, found a list from Kerala PFI member Mohammed Basheer's house which had the names of five RSS leaders allegedly on the PFI radar.
A total of eight security personnel will be deployed to offer security to the RSS leaders after the PFI threat input.
The Union government on Wednesday banned the radical outfit Popular Front of India (PFI) and its associates for five years, citing threats to security and terror links. A total of nine organisations have been declared "unlawful" under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
The central agencies and state police across the country, which have already conducted two rounds of nationwide raids and arrested over 100 PFI members, now have the right to arrest members of the organisation, freeze its accounts, and even confiscate its assets.
