
48-year-old trader dies after his scooter falls into drain in Ghaziabad

The informant told police that he noticed a scooty lying on the roadside with its headlights still on. Sensing something unusual, he searched the surrounding area and found a man lying unconscious in a nearby drain.
A 48-year-old shopkeeper died under mysterious circumstances after allegedly falling into a drain in Sihani Gate of Ghaziabad late Sunday night.
The caller informed the police that a man was lying in a drain in front of the hotel, while his scooty was found abandoned by the roadside.
Upon receiving the alert, the Sihani Gate police team rushed to the spot and began an investigation. The informant told police that he was heading from Mohan Nagar when he noticed a scooty lying on the roadside with its headlights still on. Sensing something unusual, he searched the surrounding area and found a man lying unconscious in a nearby drain.
With the help of passersby, the man was pulled out and immediately rushed to MMG Hospital. Police were also informed. However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Based on the scooty’s registration details, the deceased was identified as Shankar Lal Garg, son of late Jitendra Kumar, a resident of Pakki Mori in Dasna Gate area of Kotwali Ghaziabad.
Family members told police that the deceased would routinely dispose of garbage after closing his shop at night and visit Shri Kesari Mata Temple before returning home. On the night of the incident, he had left home following the same routine.

He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
