A conflict erupted at sea between fishermen from two villages near Sirkazhi in Tamil Nadu over the use of banned purse seine fishing nets. As a result, three people were injured and five boats damaged.
A conflict erupted at sea between fishermen from two villages near Sirkazhi in Tamil Nadu over the use of banned purse seine fishing nets. In the chaos that ensued, a trawley rammed into a boat. One boat was completely damaged and four others were set on fire. Three people were admitted to the hospital with injuries.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
