2 women held with gold worth Rs 1.5 crore in West Bengal's Siliguri

On Wednesday, two women were arrested during a raid on the Delhi-bound Down Rajdhani Express at New Jalpaiguri station and gold worth Rs 1.5 crore was recovered from their possession.
A team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) arrested two women traffickers and seized gold worth Rs 1.5 crore from their possession.
The two women have been identified as Mausumi Adhikari and Lina Goswami, residents of Barasat and Bagdar in North 24 Parganas.
According to DRI sources, based on a tip-off, Railway Security Force and DRI personnel conducted a raid on the Delhi-bound Down Rajdhani Express at New Jalpaiguri station on Wednesday.
Suspicious of gold smuggling, a search was conducted which led to the recovery of gold biscuits hidden inside shoes, further kept in a black bag.
A total of 16 gold biscuits weighing two and a half kg were recovered from the two women. The market value of the recovered gold is approximately Rs 1.5 crore.
Meanwhile, the two arrested women were taken to Siliguri court on Thursday.
