
2 passengers smuggled gold bars from Dubai, arrested in Delhi

Two passengers who were travelling from Dubai were arrested for smuggling gold worth Rs 21,77,070 at the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi.
The Customs officials seized four gold bars worth Rs 21,77,070 from two passengers at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi.
According to reports, the two passengers who had arrived on the Air India Express flight (IX-142) from Dubai on May 19 were intercepted by customs officers at Terminal 3 of the Delhi airport.
During the search, two gold bars weighing 233 grams were recovered from the pockets of the first passenger, while another two gold bars (also weighing 233 grams) were found in the pockets of the second.
All the four gold bars have been seized under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962. The market value of the gold bars seized stands at Rs 21,77,070.
The two passengers have now been arrested.

A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
