2-day Blues in the Ballpark concert coming to Thunder Bay in August

The blues are coming to Port Arthur Stadium in Thunder Bay this summer.
The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium (TBCA) has announced Blues in the Ballpark, a two-day blues festival scheduled for next August that will bring 11 performers to the stage.
"We were part of the (Thunder Bay Blues Festival) from 2002 all the way to 2019," TBCA acting general manager Andrew Edwards said at a media event on Wednesday. "We really felt as part of our 40th season here as the auditorium, it was the right time to bring back a community event and a proven format that was really embraced by the community for years."
The Thunder Bay Blues Festival was put on hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival's website states it's still "indefinitely postponed."
Blues in the Ballpark, meanwhile, will feature a "stacked" lineup, Edwards said. They include:
"Everyone on that list is top notch," said Rob Croves, president of the Thunder Bay Blues Society. "I would put this lineup against any other single weekend blues festival in Canada.
"If people are not familiar with the artists, take the time to check them out. Check out the website, check out YouTube. I'm sure you'll be pleasantly surprised."
Andrews said there are advantages to having the concert at the stadium, which is located across the street from the TBCA.
"That allows us to make the festival more affordable for the community," he said. "We can house all the artists and volunteers here."
"We have showers, we have lounge rooms, everything you need to put a festival on rather than bringing RV's to a festival area," Edwards said. "Also, we have all our production staff right here too, so if we need a piece of equipment, we can walk right across the street."
Tickets go on sale on Wed., Dec. 3, Edwards said. They can be purchased at the TBCA box office, or online at tbca.com.
There will be 3,000 weekend passes available at a cost of $154 each (only weekend passes will be sold).
