
13-year-old girl raped, forced to undergo abortion in Lucknow; tutor arrested

According to the FIR, the accused coerced and raped the minor on several occasions over a period of 20 days. The repeated sexual abuse led to the student getting pregnant, the police said.
A man has been arrested in Lucknow for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl who was taking tuition from him.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the tutor allegedly raped the minor multiple times over a period of 20 days. Police said the girl later became pregnant as a result of the alleged abuse.
Officials further stated that the man allegedly forced the girl to undergo an abortion. Following the procedure, the girl experienced severe pain and later informed her mother about the ordeal, officials said.
Subsequently, a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant provisions of law.
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act has also been invoked, as the survivor belongs to the Dalit community.
The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.

As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
