
124 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres to come up in Dakshina Kannada: MP Brijesh Chowta

124 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres will be established in Dakshina Kannada, enhancing rural healthcare access and services.
The Union Government has released ₹80 crore from the 15th Finance Commission Fund for setting up 124 Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs) in Dakshina Kannada, according to MP Captain Brijesh Chowta.
The government has sanctioned ₹65 lakh for each HWC which will come up on 2,000 square foot area. The ground floor will have a clinic, kshema centre, a day care centre and a washroom. House of the medical officer of the HWC will be on the first floor.
As many as 18 HWCs will come up in Puttur taluk, 26 in Belthangady taluk, 27 in Sullia taluk, 33 in Bantwal taluk, 12 in Moodbidri taluk and eight in Mangaluru taluk, Capt. Chowta said in a statement.
The centress will be set up in Bantwal taluk at Badaga Belluru, Anantady, Amtady, Sarapady, Devasyapaduru, Moodupadukodi, Veerakamba, Mangilapadavu, Gadiyar, Baltila, Amturu, Pane Mangaluru, Polali, Uli, Shamburu, Sooribailu, Kolnadu, Kulalu, Kuriyala, Kalige, Kavalakatte and Karpe.
Capt. Chowta performed ‘guddali pooja’ at Moodupadukodi on Saturday (March 8, 2026) for building 11 HWCs in Bantwal taluk.
Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Chowta said the HWCs will help in providing quality health care to people in rural areas. The HWCs will also help in providing healthcare facility to areas that do not have primary health centre.
