An air ambulance flying from Ranchi to Delhi crashed in Jharkhand's Chatra district on Monday evening after losing contact with Air Traffic Controller at 7:34 pm.
An air ambulance flying from Ranchi to Delhi crashed in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on Monday evening, leaving one person dead.
The deceased has been identified as Sanjay Kumar, 41, a burn patient who was being transported on the medical evacuation flight.
In a statement, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the aircraft operating a medical evacuation flight on the Ranchi–Delhi sector crashed in Chatra district on Monday evening. The aircraft was airborne at 7:11 pm and later lost communication and radar contact with Kolkata at 7:34 pm, approximately 100 nautical miles south-east of Varanasi.
The aircraft, registered as VT-AJV, was a Beechcraft King Air BE9L operated by Redbird Airways Pvt. Ltd. It had seven persons on board, one patient, one doctor, one paramedic, two attendants, one pilot-in-command and one co-pilot. The flight's expected time of arrival in Delhi was 10 pm.
The district administration’s search and rescue team has reached the crash site, and a team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is being dispatched to investigate the incident.

As per the Bill, those involved in unlawful conversions on the pretext of marriage will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of Rs 1 lakh. Violations in respect of a minor, a person of unsound mind, a woman or a person belonging to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe will be punished with imprisonment of seven years and a fine of Rs 5 lakh.
