Needling his opponent on social media, the front-runner for New York City mayor posted, "I know how hard you worked for this."
New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani couldn’t resist teasing challenger Andrew Cuomo over his most high-profile campaign endorsement yet.
Mamdani seized on the chance to remind voters what kind of people want his opponent in power after President Donald Trump begrudgingly backed Cuomo during a Sunday interview on “60 Minutes.”
“Congratulations, @AndrewCuomo. I know how hard you worked for this,” he posted online along a glaring MAGA red graphic with photos of the president and the former governor at the bottom.
Mamdani tried to hammer home with similarities between Cuomo and Trump during a Monday press conference, where he told reporters: “The answer to a Donald Trump presidency is not to create its mirror image here in City Hall.”
The president had zero praise for Cuomo in his 11th hour endorsement but said that if he had to pick “between a bad Democrat” and Mamdani, whom he falsely called a communist, he’d “pick the bad Democrat all the time.”
