
Youngsters contributing to surge in Covid cases, must exercise caution: AIIMS Director

The possibility of youngsters infecting the elderly group with Covid-19 is high, AIIMS (Delhi) Director Dr Randeep Guleria said.
Youngsters are contributing to the rise in Covid-19 cases, Dr Randeep Guleria said. One of India's most renowned medical practitioners, Dr Guleria is Director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. Speaking to India Today TV on Thursday, Dr Randeep Guleria said people in the younger age group are going out and mixing despite the surge in Covid-19 cases. They are less fearful since they feel that the infection will be mild if they catch it and therefore, fail to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour, said Dr Guleria.
A prominent seer, Pranavananda Swamiji, alleged that mutts backing Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to take over the top post were denied any allocation in the state budget presented by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He reiterated his support for Shivakumar to take over as the chief minister.

According to the police, 19-year-old Sachin Dharmendrabhai Chaudhary, who works as a labourer, had borrowed the money before expressing his inability to repay it immediately, police said. He was allegedly threatened with his life over the delay in repayment. Fearing for his life, Sachin immediately alerted the police.
