The Yankees traded Mike Tauchman to the Giants on Tuesday in exchange for left-hander Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later. Tyler Wade was recalled from the alternate site to take Tauchman’s spot on the roster.
Tauchman had been unable to get back to the form he showed in 2019, when he was a reliable left-handed bat and was able to play all three outfield spots well. A calf injury cut that season short and Tauchman struggled last year, when he said he aggravated a shoulder injury.
The offseason signing of Vladislav Gavrikov became exponentially more important for the Rangers when Adam Fox was ruled out for the foreseeable future.
