
Woman kills son, attacks daughter after fight with husband over alcohol addiction

A woman was taken into custody after she allegedly killed her son and attacked her daughter in Pune over repeated arguments with her husband regarding his alcohol addiction.
A woman allegedly killed her 11-year-old son and attacked her 13-year-old daughter after repeated arguments with her husband over his alcohol addiction at their house in Pune, police said on Tuesday. The woman, who is in police custody, had also planned to end her life after killing her children.
The incident occurred when the woman was at her home with her two children. She allegedly attacked her 11-year-old with a sharp weapon, slitting his throat, which led to his death.
She then attempted to kill her 13-year-old daughter, who managed to escape with injuries and raised an alarm in the neighbourhood. The girl is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Police later reached the spot and took the accused into custody.
Senior Police Inspector Yuvraj Hande said the family is originally from Maharashtra's Nanded district and had been living in Pune for work.
During questioning, the woman reportedly told police that frequent domestic disputes due to her husband's alcohol addiction drove her to commit the crime and that she had planned to end her life after killing her children.
