"I assure you that no one will be permitted to disturb the nation's unity," Union Home minister Amit Shah wrote in a letter to Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi that he would "personally look into" allegations against Aam Aadmi Party's alleged ties with pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).

In a letter to Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday, Amit Shah wrote: "As per your letter, a political party being in contact with and seeking support from an anti-national, separatist and banned outfit during elections is a serious matter in the context of national security.

"The agenda of such people is no different from the agenda of the nation's enemies. It is condemnable that some people, in order to attain power, can go to the extent of teaming up with separatists and hurting the unity of Punjab and the country."

Union Home minister Amit Shah goes further to add, "I assure you that no one will be permitted to disturb the nation's unity. The Government of India is taking this issue seriously and I will personally look into the matter in depth."

Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi, in a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, had sought a probe into alleged ties between AAP and pro-Khalistan outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ).

Citing a letter by SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, Channi wrote: "The letter is in Punjabi language and contents of this letter shows that the Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), which is a banned organisation, is in constant touch with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

"It has been mentioned in the letter that the SFJ has given its support to AAP in the elections to the State Assembly in 2017 and similarly in these elections too, the SFJ has exhorted the electorate to vote for Aam Aadmi Party."
