Chandra Bose, BJP leader and Netaji's grandnephew stated that PM Modi at the Red Fort that Netaji was the first Prime Minister of the Azad Hind Government. He added that Jawahar Lal Nehru was the first prime minister of divided independent India.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has been honoured with the title of 'liberator of India' on multiple occasions. On his birth anniversary, January 23, Jago Bangla, the official mouthpiece of the Trinamool Congress, issued a front page top header asking “Why isn’t Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose given the recognition of the first PM of India?”
Not only Bose, but the article mentioned 15 others who were sworn in as cabinet members of Bose's government.
Chandra Bose, BJP leader and Netaji's grandnephew stated that PM Narendra Modi had mentioned this fact in his speech at the Red Fort.
"PM Modi had mentioned at the Red Fort that Netaji was the first Prime Minister of the Azad Hind Government. I feel that government should issue a gazette notification stating that Netaji was the first prime minister of undivided India," said Chandra Bose.
He went on to state that as per records, Jawaharlal Nehru was the first prime minister of Independent India.
The West Bengal Government, meanwhile, took the opportunity to criticise the Centre, alleging that the central government does not care much about Netaji.
" The central government has no pride or concern with Netaji. After, our CM wrote on tableau, they came up with the hologram. We will take it (Netaji as first PM of undivided India) to the central government but it is on them, we can demand and we can knock them, but what they will do, let them do" said Bratya Basu, Education Minister of West Bengal.
